Noir Petal Lattice II works a repeating petal lattice in raised clay relief against a dark ground. Mirror fragments are set into the pattern so the surface shifts and catches light as you move past it, the same principle that lit the interiors of Kutchi homes before electricity.

Lippan work originates in the villages of Kutch, Gujarat, where women artisans traditionally decorated home interiors with hand-moulded clay relief embedded with mirror fragments, a practice passed down through generations.
