Most rooms are short of one thing: a surface that does something under light. Paint, print and photography all sit flat. These crafts do not.
Glass inlay throws light back across a wall. Lippan relief shifts as you move past it. Zardozi holds gold in raised thread on velvet.
The work is rooted in Indian craft traditions, but it is not decorative shorthand for India. Used well, it reads as material and texture rather than as a theme, which is why it sits as comfortably in a Scandinavian-leaning scheme as a maximalist one.

Size and proportion
Made to your dimensions rather than cropped to ours. Narrow formats for circulation, large single pieces for a feature wall.
Palette
Grounds, pigments and metallics adjusted to a scheme. Send us the RAL, the fabric or the finish board.
Frame and finish
Frame profile, colour and glazing to suit. Glazed where a room demands it, open relief where it does not.
Motif and density
Pattern can be opened up or tightened. A quieter piece for a bedroom, a denser one for a stairwell.

Madhubani
Fine linework painting in natural pigment. Quiet, graphic, best read close.
Lippan
Raised mud-and-mirror relief. Strong texture, changes with the light in a room.
Mother of Pearl
Hand-cut shell inlay. Luminous and tonal, sits well in pale schemes.
Glass Inlay
Thikri work. Cut mirror and glass set to carry light across a surface.
Zardozi
Metallic thread on velvet. Deep ground, raised gold, reads as textile.
A note on specifying. Humidity, direct light and cleaning regimes all affect how these surfaces age. Open Lippan relief and Zardozi velvet do not belong in a wet room or a kitchen-adjacent space; glazed inlay and mother of pearl will take it. Tell us the conditions and we will tell you what holds up.
Working with us
We buy directly from the workshops that make the work, so there is no reseller between the artisan and your client.
Trade pricing is available on request. So are physical samples — we would rather you put a real surface in front of a client than a photograph of one.
Because everything is handmade, no two pieces are identical. Mirror placement, thread density and linework all vary between examples of the same design. Worth setting that expectation with a client early; most take it as the point.
